NATIONAL/CLUB
Played with De Anza Force Academy for five years...In
2008, he was called into the U.S. U-17 National Team minicamps in
August and December...Has played against several MLS youth teams:
LA Galaxy, Chivas, Colorado Rapids, New York Red Bull, Columbus
Crew and Dallas Texans.
HIGH SCHOOL
Played at Valley Christian High School...Played three
seasons for the Warriors...Was twice named the First Team
Goalkeeper for the Central Coast Section by the San Jose Mercury
News...RISE Magazine honored him with All-Bay Area First Team
accolades in 2008...Three-time First Team All-West Catholic
Athletic League pick...As a sophomore, he earned the WCAL's
Co-Defensive Player of the Year award and Valley Christian's
Defensive MVP honors...Selected as the Central Coast Section's
Sophomore of the Year by the San Jose Mercury News in 2008...Named
the CCS Freshman of the Year by the San Jose Mercury News and
earned Second Team All-CCS Goalkeeper honors from the same
publication...Named Valley Christian's Impact Player of the Year as
a freshman...Twice earned distinction as one of the Bay Area's Top
Players in RISE Magazine as both a freshman and junior.
PERSONAL
Austin Mansker was born on May 16, 1992 in San Jose,
Calif....Parents are Barry and Janna...Has two sisters, Kaitlyn and
Alyssa...Is majoring in communication at UCSB and has aspirations
of one day working as a sports broadcaster...When he is not
playing, he can be found on his computer or out with friends...He
can't do without his cell phone...Before a game, he will get in the
zone by listening to music and spending time by himself...Can best
be described as "determined" and "hard working"...Most memorable
sporting moment was training with the national team...Match-up he
would most like to be a part of is a pairing against Brazil with
the U.S. National Team...Cheers for Manchester United...Favorite
athlete is fellow goalkeeper Tim Howard...Names "Superbad" as his
favorite film while "How to Make it in America" is his favorite
show.
