Gay Finishes Top 15 at Gene Miranda Falcon Invite

COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. – The UC Santa Barbara Golf team wrapped up their second tournament of the fall season with a 15th place finish. Ryan Gay led the charge finishing tied for 14th out of 115 participants.

FROM HEAD COACH CHRIS MASSOLETTI
"The greens are some of the most undulating and severe we will see all season and we just didn't adjust well the first few rounds," said Massoletti. "We did not play the par 5's well which are usually a great opportunity to score at a place like this. To the teams credit, they fought hard and put together a nice team round today to make a move up the leaderboard today."

HOW IT HAPPENED
UC Santa Barbara started slow finishing day one with an overall score of 300 (+12). Jack Watters was the team leader shooting a one-over 73 with two birdies and an eagle. Ryan Gay and Dylan Ma followed closely behind both shooting a 75 (+3).

During round two the Gauchos improved their score by nine strokes shooting a 291 (+3). Ryan Gay was the lone student-athlete under par shooting a four-under 68. The senior made five with a bogey free back nine. Nick Waldock and Zach Schwab bounced back from day one and both shot a two-over 74.

In the final round of play UC Santa Barbara shot a five under 283, which was the fifth best score in the final round. Four Gauchos shot under par with Ryan Gay again leading the way, this time with a two-under, 70. Jack Watters, Dylan Ma and Zach Schwab all shot a one-under 71 to jump up the standings.
