UC Santa Barbara Women's Cross Country Highest Ranking In History of Program

Oct. 6, 2006

Santa Barbara, Calif. - For the second week in a row UC Santa Barbara's women's cross country team hits an all time high in rankings by the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association. In the current USTFCCCA Division 1 Women's National Poll the Gauchos rank at No. 9. The ranking surpasses last weeks all time high ranking of No. 11.

The women's 'A' team did not compete this weekend as the 9 runners who ran at the Roy Griak Invitational on Sept. 23 had the weekend off. Despite taking the weekend off the Gauchos were able to move up two spots based on the merit of that performance at the Griak Invite.

The women will compete again on Saturday, October 14th at the NCAA Pre-Nationals in Terre Haute, In.
