Seventh-Ranked Gauchos Run to Second-Place Finish at NCAA West Regional

PORTLAND, Ore. - Seniors Lauren and Lindsay Christman finished fifth and 10th respectively to lead the seventh-ranked UC Santa Barbara women's cross country team to a second-place finish at the NCAA West Regional in Portland, Ore.

Lauren Christman ran a 21:17.50 on the 6-kilometer course in Portland. Lindsay Christman ran 21:36.09 to give the Gauchos two top-10 finishers. Senior Stephanie Rothstein, who won the individual title at the Ray Griak Invitational earlier in the year, finished 14th at 21:43.69, she followed closely by Megan Lewis who clocked in at 21:46.91.

The Gauchos finished with 72 points, 30 points behind first-place Stanford, which had 42. Third-place Arizona State had 83 points. The top-three were the only teams to score under 100 in the 30 team field.

Danielle Domenichelli (22:13.44) finished 28th, Bethany Nickless (22:22.75) finished 32nd and Hadas Moser (22:56.97) was 60th for UCSB.

Stanford's Arianna Lambie and Kathleen Trotter finished 1-2 in the meet, which featured 199 runners.

The Gauchos will next compete at the NCAA Championship meet in Minneapolis in 10 days.
