FULLERTON, Calif.—The UCSB women's cross country team placed third overall at the Titan Invitational hosted by California State University Fullerton earlier Friday evening.
The women's team totaled 108 points for a total time of 1:33.28.30 and an average time of 18:41.66. Junior Jessica Chadwick led the women with her 10th place finish in a time of 17:54.2. Freshman Megan Petkovic ran 18:07.4 for 15th place while Senior Erin Frabris ran 18:12.7 with Senior Cassie Brooker following in 18:17.5.
Several of the Gaucho track and field members also competed in the women's 5k run. Cherrelle McMillian clocked in 20:56.5 followed closely behind by Amanda Rodriguez in 20:56.8. Jennifer Carey ran 21:23.4 followed by Camille Petty in 21:26.7 and Katie Lee in 21:34.0.
Cassandra Centrofranchi finished 127th for a time of 23:38.0, Cherise Dixon ran 24:19.8 for 129th and Jessica Johnson clocked in 24:21.0. Sprinter Kelsey Bolden, hurdler Jen Melton, and field athletes Helena Montin, Veronica Gines and Maureen Ajoku finished places 134-139.
Only three men competed in this event. Greg Dotson ran 25:10.5 to place 16th overall, Rusty Parker finished in 25:23.2 and Nate Cox clocked in 26:26.4.
The rest of the cross country team who qualified for the Big West Championship will be competing on Oct. 29th in Riverside, Calif.
