• This Week In Water Polo
The No. 15 UC Santa Barbara women's water polo team heads to Northridge this weekend still in search of its first Big West Conference win of the season. The Gauchos will play league foe Cal State Northridge at noon and will follow that game up with a nonconference, neutral-site game against Cal Baptist at 2:30 p.m.

• For The Record
UCSB currently holds a 12-8 overall record and is 0-2 in Big West action. The Gauchos dropped their first two conference games last weekend to UC Davis and Pacific by way of 12-7 and 4-3 scores, respectively. UCSB dropped from 13th to 15th in this week's Collegiate Water Polo Association Top-20 Coaches Poll.

• One More To Go...
Senior Gillian Morgan had her 18-game scoring streak come to end on Sunday against Pacific. The senior has been held scoreless during only two games this season. For the season, she has 60 goals, surpassing her team-leading totals from her sophomore (49 goals) and junior (50 goals) years. She needs just one more goal to tie the UCSB single-season scoring record, set by Kelley Tiffany in 2001. In addition to leading the Gauchos, Morgan also leads the Big West Conference with her 3.00 goals per game average.

• Claire Can
Sophomore Claire Buchanan posted two of the Gauchos' three goals in the narrow loss to Pacific on Sunday, marking her sixth game with two goals this season. The utility player is currently third on the team with 19 goals and leads the team with 30 earned penalties or ejections and 16 steals.

• No. 2, And That Ain't Bad
Gillian Morgan was not the only player to have a scoring streak snapped on Sunday. Junior Lizzie Rouleau had a nine-game streak come to a halt against the Tigers. The center is second on the squad with 24 goals this season, which is one goal over her total from last season. She is also second on the team with 29 earned penalties or ejections.

• With A Little Help From My Friend
Sophomore Katie Kepner currently leads the Gauchos with 14 assists this season, one more than Morgan has posted. She needs just six more to tie her total from the 2008 season.

• Goalie Gossip
Sophomore goalkeeper Chelsea Carrillo tallied nine saves across last weekend's two games. She is averaging six saves per game this season. Sophomore goalie Kate Murphy will be sidelined indefinitely due to an illness. Murphy was averaging 8.2 saves per game for UCSB.

• Matador Matters
No. 14 Cal State Northridge enters this weekend with a 14-14 overall record and a 1-1 mark in the Big West after splitting a pair of games last week. The Matadors defeated Pacific. 12-3, before falling to UC Davis in overtime, 6-5. Jessica Coy leads the Matadors offensively, averaging 1.57 goals per game and goalie Jillian Stapf is tops in the conference with an 11.56 saves per game average. The two teams last met at the UC San Diego Invitational on Feb. 7 and Northridge came out on top by way of a 10-7 score.

• A Look At The Lancers
Cal Baptist enters this weekend with a 17-14 overall record. The team is lead by Jennifer Grutz, who has tallied 78 goals this season. Goalie Camryn Rogers has posted 114 saves so far for the Lancers. UCSB last saw Cal Baptist at the UCSD Invitational where the Gauchos picked up an 18-10 victory.

• Be Great
Earlier this year UCSB Athletics unveiled the BE Great initiative. BE Great is dedicated to maximizing leadership ability, strong on-campus interaction, and general welfare for all 450 student-athletes and Intercollegiate Athletics staff at UC Santa Barbara. BE Great also focuses on personal and career development, diversity, and social awareness, along with ensuring academic success. UCSB has a 92% student-athlete graduation rate.

• On The Road Again
Following this weekend's games, the Gauchos will continue Big West action on the road when they head to UC Irvine on Saturday, April 11 for a noon game.
