• The Week Ahead
After splitting 4 games in Pacific Beach, to place 11th at the UC Irvine Invitational, the Gauchos return to Santa Barbara, to host a pair of games this weekend from Campus Pool. UCSB will face Fresno Pacific this Thursday at 6:00 pm. On Sunday, UCSB will play No. 7 Loyola Marymount at 12:00 pm.

• For The Record
UCSB currently carries a record of 8-7. The Gauchos have played well at home, going 2-0 at Campus Pool, but have also prevailed at opponents pools, where they are also 2-0. After competing in three tournaments, the Gauchos are 4-7 at neutral site games, with all seven losses coming to ranked opponents. UCSB ranks 14th in the Collegiate Water Polo Association Top-20 Poll, one spot higher than it's preseason ranking.

• Scorching the Sunbirds
Thursday evening the Gauchos will square off against Fresno Pacific, in their first home match in six weeks. The Sunbirds are 1-11 and are in the midst of a 3 game skid. The last time UCSB saw Fresno Pacific was on Feb 2, 2008, when they defeated the Sunbirds handily, by a score of 26-3.

• Lion Taming
On Sunday, UCSB will host a game against Loyola Marymount, at 12:00 pm. The Lions are 8-2, and are currently ranked seventh in the Collegiate Water Polo Association Top-20 Poll. LMU is coming off of three straight wins, and a ninth place finish at the UC Irvine Invitational. The Gauchos are 1-5 in their last six matches against the Lions, and have also dropped all five games played against top-ten ranked opponents this year. Sunday, the Gauchos look to buck history, by sending the Lions home with a loss.

• Gaucho Goals
After posting 5 goals this weekend, junior Christie Clark continues to lead the Gauchos in scoring,. Clark has a total of 17 goals this season, including three two-goal games, coming against CSU Bakersfield (Jan. 23) and No. 11 UC Irvine (Feb. 6 & Feb. 28). Katie Kepner, Claire Buchanan, and Lizzie Rouleau are in a three-way tie for second on the team in scoring, each having tallied 12 goals this season. Kepner recorded three goals against No. 4 California (Jan. 29), has picked up dual goals on three occasions this year, and also leads the team in assists, with 15. Buchanan has recorded two goals in games against Pomona-Pitzer (1/23), Sonoma State (1/30) and Indiana (2/6) this season. Rouleau recorded a hat-trick in a victory over No. 18 Indiana (Feb. 6), and also has 9 steals on the season.

• Defensive Domination
Junior Kathryn Nelson leads UCSB in steals, with 18, and field blocks, with 6. Second in steals is freshman Shelby Haroldson, with 17. Christie Clark and Nancy Ruano have also each stolen 13 balls this season, while Rouleau and Buchanan have 5 and 4 field blocks respectively

• Featured Freshman
Shelby Haroldson continues to lead Gaucho Freshmen in scoring, with a total of 11 goals, good enough for fifth on the team. Two other freshmen, Nancy Ruano and Kacey Creek, continue to shine, each having notched 7 goals to date. Creek has also recorded 9 steals this season.

• We're Going Streaking
Three Gauchos: Christie Clark. Lizzie Rouleau, and Kathryn Nelson, are currently on scoring streaks. Clark has scored five-goals in UCSB's last four games, including two scores in a victory over eleventh ranked UC Irvine this past weekend. Rouleau is also on a four-game streak, after picking up a goal in each game at the UC Irvine Invitational. Nelson has scored 4 goals in the Gauchos' last three games,

• Goalie Gossip
Ruth Milne has recorded a total of 142 saves this season, including a 15-save game against UC Davis (2/7) and multiple12 save performances. After starting 14 of the Gauchos' 15 games, Milne is averaging 10.9 saves per game, and 7.7 goals against per game. Freshman Sarah Zuziak also saw action this weekend, collecting two saves against UC Irvine, and bringing her total to eight for the season

• There's No Place Like Home
The Gauchos will remain in Santa Barbara for the entire month of March, and the beginning of April. Next weekend UCSB will host two games on Sunday. The Gauchos will face Cal State San Bernadino at 2:00 pm, before taking on Bucknell Universiy at 5:00 pm. Both games will be played at UCSB's Campus Pool.
