The Week Ahead
No. 12 UCSB faces a marathon home-opening weekend as the Gauchos host six games across three days. The UCSB Winter Invite, a nine-team, 18-game tournament to be held Saturday and Sunday at the Recreation Center and Camps Pool, will highlight the weekend. Prior to tournament action, the Gauchos will play a doubleheader on Friday against Michigan and Concordia.

A Perfect Start
UCSB opened the 2011 season last week with a series of three road contests. The Gauchos defeated Cal State Monterey Bay, Cal State East Bay and Sonoma State to jump out to a 3-0 start to the season.

Seventh Heaven
Senior Kathryn Nelson is currently tied for the team-lead in goals with classmate Kristin Kulakowski and freshman Molly Hafferkamp. Each tallied seven goals across last week's three contests. Nelson led the team with hat tricks in the wins over Monterey Bay and East Bay while Kulakowski's four goals led UCSB in its win over Sonoma State.

Dominating Defense
In their most recent contest, UCSB limited Sonoma State to just four goals. The last time the Gauchos limited a team to less than a handful of goals was on Apr. 2, 2010 when UCSB posted a 6-4 win over Long Beach State.

Scoring Fest
The Gauchos have outscored their opponents this season by an average margin of 7.33 goals. UCSB has also outscored their opponents in 11 out of 12 quarters of play.

Tourney Time
This weekend's UCSB Winter Invite will feature nine teams: No. 12 UCSB, No. 20 Cal State Bakersfield, Concordia, No. 7 Michigan, No. 11 San Diego State, No. 18 UC San Diego, No. 10 UC Irvine, Sonoma State and Vanguard. For the complete tournament schedule and tournament results, click here.
