SAN DIEGO, Calif. - No. 17 UC Santa Barbara lost 10-8 to sixth ranked San Diego State, today at the Aztec Aquaplex in San Diego Calif. Sophomore utility, Christie Clark had a strong offensive performance, leading the Gauchos with four goals.
The Gauchos started of with a slow start, and were outscored three to zero in the first quarter. UCSB rallied back in the second, scoring three goals while the Aztecs scored four. The Gauchos outscored San Diego State in the third three to one, making the score 6-8 at the end of the third quarter.
In the final quarter, UCSB chipped in two goals while the Aztecs responded with two goals of their own.
After a scoreless first quarter, the Gauchos stepped up offensively throughout the rest of the game, but their efforts were not enough to defeat the Aztecs. The game ended with a 10-8 San Diego State victory.
UCSB now holds an overall record of 4-12 and are 0-6 in the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation. The Gauchos will travel to Honolulu, Hawaii to take on No.5 Hawaii, Saturday March 15. The match up will take place at 10 pm at the University of Hawaii's Duke Kahanamoku Aquatic Complex.
