SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - Tenth ranked UC Santa Barbara faced the unranked Pacific Tigers. Sophomore Lindsay Knott rattled the cage three times helping the Gauchos to an 18-3 victory.
UCSB had a 6-0 scoring run spanning the first and second quarters. ZiZi Clark scored early in the first followed by Knott and Teale Walheim. Gillian Morgan continued the run in the second quarter. The Gauchos quickly scored two in a row. Pacific retaliated with a goal by Kelly Fletcher and then Julia Snyder bringing the score to 6-2, Gauchos at halftime.
The Gauchos opened the second half with an 8-0 scoring run. Junior Sarah Kovach started the scoring at the top of the third quarter. Allie Carkin kept it going followed by two more goals by Knott. Walheim hit the back of the cage once more followed by Kari Keach all in the third quarter.
Gillian Morgan continued the scoring run into the fourth quarter. Freshman Anne Marie May also hit the back of the cage. Snyder of the Tigers scored her second goal of the match. The Gauchos then had one more scoring run started by Aimee Stachowski. Z. Clark and then Carkin each scored their second goals of the match. Sophomore Kelsey Duignan finished up the scoring for the Gauchos. The final score was 18-3 Gauchos.
The Gauchos are now 8-9 overall and 1-4 in MPSF play. UCSB continues action next Friday at Campus Pool at 4 p.m. against Arizona State.
