Gauchos Lose First Home Game of the Season to No. 1 UCLA

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - No. 17 UC Santa Barbara was defeated 12-0 by No. 1 UCLA today at UC Santa Barbara's Recreational Center Pool.

The Gauchos struggled offensively but put forth a strong defensive effort throughout the game. UCSB held the Bruins to two goals in the first quarter with efforts from goalie, Jenny Gonzales, who finished with a total of seven saves. UCLA chipped in another three goals in the second quarter, making the score 5-0 at the half.

The Bruins came out strong in the third scoring five goals and unfortunately the Gauchos could not respond to the Bruin's offensive performance. With two more goals in the final fourth quarter, UCLA dominated the Gauchos 12-0.

The Gauchos will continue their home stretch hosting No. 2 Stanford and No.8 San Jose State. Friday, March 7 the Gauchos will face No. 2 Stanford at 4pm and Saturday, March 8 will face No. 8 San Jose State. Both games will be played at the UCSB Recreational Center Pool.
