Gauchos Drown Non-Division I Schools Cal Baptist and CSUSB

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - Tenth ranked UC Santa Barbara begins the 2006 season with two decisive wins. The Gauchos outscored Cal Baptist this morning with an 8-2 win and then went on to crush Cal State San Bernardino 12-4 this afternoon.

UCSB took on the Lancers in The Lancer Invitational at 10:30 this morning. The Gauchos started of their season with confidence and an 8-2 win.

Santa Barbara went on to play CSUSB at the Coyotes pool. UCSB scored five unanswered goals in the first quarter and led at the half 8-2. The second half went just as well for the Gauchos as they defeated San Bernardino 12-4.

Freshman Gillian Morgan broke into her career with the Gauchos hitting the back of the cage three times. Junior Aimee Stachowski scored two UCSB goals. Among the other Gauchos to score were Amanda Tipton, Lindsay Knott, Alaina Whitaker, Jen D'Anna, Ashley Alker, Katlin Kubas, and Alli Perez. Sarah Reneker was the top scorer for the Coyotes with two goals.

UCSB plays its first home game of the season tomorrow Sunday, November 5 at 12pm at Campus Pool against No. 1 ranked team, UCLA. Next weekend they are on the road again at the UC San Diego Tournament on both Saturday, February 11 and Sunday, November 12.
