Pipkin Earns ACWPC All-America Accolades

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – UC Santa Barbara junior utility Kate Pipkin earned 2018 Division I All-America Honorable Mention honors, it was announced by the Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches (ACWPC) on Monday afternoon.

The Costa Mesa, Calif. native led UCSB while finishing third in the Big West in total points (79), after dishing out a team-high 35 assists to go with 44 goals, which ranked second for the Gauchos. She had at least a goal or an assist in all but two matches while tallying at least one of each in 13 games. Overall, Pipkin scored in 20 matches, tallying a season-high four goals on two separate occasions.

Pipkin went a perfect 8-0 in sprints to lead the conference in win percentage and finished with 27 steals and 13 drawn exclusions.

For her efforts, Pipkin earned All-Big West accolades for the second straight season and is the first Gaucho to earn All-America status since Lauren Martin and Samantha Murphy were recognized in 2016. 

Amanda Longan from USC was named Player of the Year while USC's Jovan Vavic was named the Coach of the Year.
