SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - Junior Samantha Murphy was honored with "Outstanding" recognition, leading a trio of UC Santa Barbara players who earned All-Academic Awards the Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches announced Monday.
Murphy, who was named Honorable Mention All-American by the ACWPC, led the Gauchos in scoring with 42 points in 2015, including 34 goals. The San Jose, Calif. native is majoring in communication and, last week, was recognized as a member of the Academic All-Big West Team. The "Outstanding" level means that Murphy possesses a grade point average between 3.71 and 4.00.
Junior Bryn Hudson and senior Claryann Olofsson-Loo were also honored by the ACWPC. Hudson, an aquatic biology major and native of Tualatin, Ore., earned "Superior" recognition, meaning that her grade point average is between 3.70 and 3.41. Olofsson-Loo was honored at the "Excellent" level with a grade point average between 3.40 and 3.20. She is an environmental studies major from San Diego. Hudson and Olofsson-Loo were also members of the Academic All-Big West team.
