No. 15 UC Santa Barbara Falls to No. 12 Long Beach State

LONG BEACH, Calif. - The No. 15 UC Santa Barbara women's water polo team was unable to defeat No. 12 Long Beach State in today's conference match. The Gauchos fell to the 49ers 9-5 in their fourth conference game of the season. 

The first two quarters of the match were a back and fourth battle, as UC Santa Barbara was able to put up two shots by the half and Long Beach State was able to get up four. Long Beach State pulled ahead in the third quarter, scoring four goals total as the Gauchos fought hard and put up two of their own. Each team put up one more goal, but the Gauchos were unable to defeat the 49ers, leaving the score 9-5 Long Beach State. 

Sophomore Samantha Murphy led the Gauchos today, putting up two goals of her own. Sophomore Jessie Porter and Junior Claryann Olofsson-Loo each put up a goal of their own for the Gaucho's, as well as leading Freshman scorer, Carly Christian. Sophomore goalie Mackenzie Brokaw had an impressive game, with six blocks and two steals. 

The Gauchos play their final Big West Conference match against CSU Northridge next Friday, April 18, at campus pool. This will be there final match before heading to the Big West Conference Championships in two weeks.
