No. 15 Gauchos Wrap Up the Regular Season

What Lies Ahead
The Gauchos will head up to Northern California when they play their last two games of the regular season this weekend. UCSB's first game will be played against No. 11 UC Davis at UC Davis on Saturday. They will travel to Pacific the following day concluding the regular season.

Weekend in Review
UCSB went undefeated last week as they concluded their last home games of the season, playing two matches last Saturday. In the first match of the day the Gauchos defeated Big West Conference contender Cal State Northridge, 5-3. Later on that afternoon, the Gauchos faced Cal Baptist, and swiftly defeated them, 9-7.

For the Record
After the pair of wins, the Gauchos have a positive overall record of 18-12. Their Big West Conference record is 2-1. They are tied for second in the conference. The Gauchos hold the 15 spot in the Collegiate Water Polo Association.

Big West Battle
UC Irvine has secured the number one seed in the Big West Tournament. They are currently 4-0 in conference play. The Gauchos are tied for second with UC Davis. This weekend's matches will be the determining factor of the final rankings. CSUN follows behind in fourth, Long Beach State in fifth, and Pacific in last.

Doubling Down
There were two Gauchos this weekend that posted two goals in each of the matches this weekend. Juniors Shelby Haroldson and Kacey Creek scored four goals each for UCSB this past weekend. Creek is leading the Gauchos in goals with a total of 31. Haroldson is also in the top-five scorers with a season total of 29 goals. She leads the team with 49 steals and 51 assists.

Thriving Thirties
Three Gauchos have scoring totals thirty and higher. Alongside Creek, junior Bryce Winton and sophomore Molly Hafferkamp both post a total of 30 goals each for the Gauchos.

Senior Sendoff
As Campus Pool said goodbye to the Gaucho seniors, senior Katie Zakula posted a goal in both of the matches this past weekend. Zakula has a career total of 22 goals scored, 18 assists, and 12 steals.

What's Coming Up
After the conclusion of the regular season, the Gauchos will travel to the Big West Conference Tournament April 27-29, 2012.
