Trevor Mattson joined the UCSB women's volleyball staff in July 2017 as a volunteer assistant coach. 

Mattson arrives in Santa Barbara fresh off winning the 2017 NCAA Division III men's volleyball championship with Springfield College. A four-year member and two-year starter for the Pride, Mattson served as the team captain of the national championship squad. 

In a career spanning 54 matches, Mattson accrued 258 kills (2.19 per set) and 60 blocks. 

A native of Redlands, Calif., Mattson has an extensive history of coaching at the club and prep level despite his demanding schedule as a student-athlete. 

He most recently spent time at the Springfield Boys Volleyball School in Springfield, Mass., where he assisted Charlie Sullivan – the head men's volleyball coach at Springfield College – with the daily operation of the school. Mattson also previously served as head coach of Velocity Volleyball Club's 16U boy's volleyball club, where he was responsible for making personnel decisions, practice planning, tournament coordination, and game planning. 

As a prep player at Arrowhead Christian Academy in Redlands, Calif., he served as assistant coach for the girl's junior varsity program. 

Mattson received his bachelor of science in business management from Springfield College in May 2017.
