SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – UC Santa Barbara senior outside hitter Lindsey Ruddins earned her first Big West Player of the Week award in 2019, and the 10th of her career, after leading the Gauchos to a 3-0 record at the VCU Invitational.

Her 10 selections are tied for second all-time in league history along with Hawaii's Nikki Taylor, and she sits just one away from tying the record currently held by Kylie Atherstone of Cal Poly.

The 6-foot-2 Laguna Niguel native racked up 59 kills and 34 digs over 13 sets of action this past weekend as the Gauchos rolled through the competition to improve to 5-1 on the year.

Ruddins opened the tournament with an 18-kill, 11-dig double-double to lead UCSB past NC State, 3-1, and followed up her performance with 21 kills on .452 hitting (21-2-42) in a 3-1 win over Navy.

In the tournament finale, Ruddins posted a huge 20-kill, 17-dig double-double to lead the Gauchos to a 3-2 comeback victory over host VCU. She averaged 4.54 kills per set, 2.62 digs and 0.69 blocks over the weekend.

UCSB (5-1) hosts the Thunderdome Classic this weekend, taking on San Diego this Friday, Sept. 13 at 6:00 p.m. in its home opener.
