Nicole Lantagne Welch
Nicole Lantagne Welch was officially introduced as UCSB's new women's volleyball head coach in February 2013. Born and raised down the coast in Encinitas, Lantagne Welch's volleyball life brought her from College Park, Md. to Coral Gables, Fla. where she spent 12 years building the program at the University of Miami.
Building the Hurricanes' program from the ground up, Lantagne Welch finished her tenure at Miami with four straight trips to the NCAA Tournament. Before she coached the Hurricanes, Lantagne Welch was an assistant at Texas A&M, a graduate assistant at Ohio University, and a record breaking setter at the University of Maryland. Santa Barbara is more than just the home to her new program; it is also home to many of her family members. Aside from the program's proud history and national reputation, Lantange Welch's family is part of why she considered being UCSB's head coach a dream job.
The Lantagne Welch Era marks the beginning of a new chapter for UCSB women's volleyball. Witness history when the Gauchos embark on her inaugural season against Stanford on Aug. 30 in the Thunderdome.
