• LL Cool J
Over her last nine matches, senior Lily Lopez has been a force offensively and defensively. The middle blocker is hitting .360 (92-20-200) with an average of 10.22 kills per match and 4.00 total blocks per match (nine solo, 27 assisted). On the season the Santa Ana, Calif. native is hitting .331 (fourth in the Big West) with 2.14 kills per set and 0.97 blocks per set.

• Double Dipper
In 13 of the Gauchos' 18 matches this season – this coming after she missed all of last year due to a torn ACL – Leah Sully has recorded a double-double. On the season the sophomore from Irvine, Calif. is averaging 2.88 kills and 3.57 digs per set – both ranking second on the team. Sully is also fifth in the conference with her 0.26 ace per set average.

• About Schmidt
All-American Stacey Schmidt has been almost like a one-person wrecking crew for the Gauchos. She ranks in the top-10 in the Big West in hitting percentage (.310, seventh), service aces (0.35, second) and falls just outside the top-10 in kills (2.97 per set) and blocks (0.97) but both of those marks lead the Gauchos.

• Batting 1,000
Senior libero Chelsey Lowe now stands with 1,121 digs in her Gaucho career (she transferred from USF prior to the 2009 season).  The Yorba Linda, Calif. native is averaging 5.10 digs per set, ranking her second in the Big West and 32nd in the country. She has had at least 20 digs in 11 of the Gauchos' 18 matches and leads the Big West in digs during conference play (5.09). Lowe has a chance to break into UCSB's career top-10 by season's end. Currently, Liz Towne (1985-88) ranks 10th with 1,256 career digs.

• They Can Dig It
As a team UCSB is averaging 17.00 digs per set, which ranks the Gauchos second in the Big West and 33rd nationally in digs. Chelsey Lowe and Leah Sully (3.47 digs per set) are in the top-10 in the Big West in digs, one of just two sets of teammates to do so.

• The Pursuit of Perfection
Since joining the Big West in 2001 UC Riverside has not defeated UCSB. In fact, in those 26 matches the Highlanders have won just three sets against the Gauchos.

• Poll Position
After receiving multiple votes in last week's AVCA Top-25 poll for the first time since the August 31, 2010 AVCA poll, UCSB was no longer listed. Before getting knocked out of the poll last year the Gauchos had gone 15 straight weeks of receiving votes. The last time UCSB was ranked in the Top-25 came on Sept. 12, 2005 when Santa Barbara was No. 24.

• Killin' Kara
In Big West play, sophomore Kara Sherrard leads UCSB with her 3.09 kills per set. The outside hitter had a pair of double-doubles last weekend and now has tallied six on the season – and four in a row. Sherrard, who hails from Lancaster, Calif., has reached double digit kills in 11 matches this season, including four straight.

• Helping Hands
Over her last 10 matches freshman setter Hanna Nielson is averaging 42.6 assists per match and has passed out at least 35 assists in eight of those matches and at least 50 in four during that span. The Saratoga, Calif. native's 10.21 assists per set on the season is 89th in the nation.

• Smoking Aces
As a team the Gauchos are averaging 1.19 service aces per set, ranking them second amongst Big West teams.

• Low Blows
Including both Lily Lopez's and Stacey Schmidt's hitting percentages – each is in the Big West's top-10 – the Gauchos are swinging a collective .185, which ranks them fifth amongst the nine conference teams. UCSB is holding its opponents to a .171 hitting percentage.
