Amy Haapanen won two Big West Conference individual titles and broke three records to help propel the Gauchos to a second-place finish at the league championships this past weekend.
Haapanen continued her spectacular season by winning both the shot put and hammer crowns. The senior set a new Big West meet record with a toss of 206'3" in the hammer and established a new UCSB mark of 52'3.25" in the shot put. In addition, Haapanen placed second in the discus with a school-record throw of 170'11".
UCSB produced a total of 10 individual champions at this year's Big West Championships as the men's squad also took second place, its best finish ever.
