National Rankings
The Gauchos are ranked 33rd in the nation in women's track and field, according to the system used by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA). They are ranked the highest of all the Big West teams, followed by UC Riverside at No. 65 and Long Beach State at No. 67. The men are also the top Big West team in the national rankings, currently at No. 60. Proximal Big West teams are UC Irvine at No. 73 and Cal State Northridge at No. 86. The national rankings are compiled using mathematical formulae based on national descending order lists and data from previous seasons. The rankings are meant to index the teams that have the greatest potential to achieve the top spots in the national team race at the NCAA Championships.
