Battling to move into the number one spot on the Gaucho all-time triple jump list, Thomas bettered her triple jump performance from last season with a jump of 39'8.75" at the Cal Poly Invitational and foreshadowing her record breaking performance at the end of the season...Jumped 19'1" in the long jump against Cal Poly to move into fifth all-time...Finished 25th in the final round of the NCAA West Preliminary rounds with her triple jump mark of 41'3.25" and setting a new UCSB record. 2009
In her freshman season Thomas moved into second on the UCSB all-time triple jump list with a mark of 39'1.25" (11.92m) at the USC Invitational, and into sixth on the all-time long jump list with a mark of 18'9" (5.71m) at the Bryan Clay Invitational...At the Big West Championships she took ninth in the triple jump at 37'10.75" (11.55m) and 14th in the long jump at 17'7.50" (5.37m)...Her other highlights included winning her section in the long jump at the Oregon Relays with a mark of 18'5" (5.61m), and coming in second in the triple jump at the Big West Challenge Cup with a mark of 37'10.50" (11.54m).
