Team captain raised her school record in the pole vault for the third consecutive year, by clearing 13' 00.25" at the All-Cal Cup, also an NCAA provisional mark...runner-up at Big West for the second straight year in the vault, Deborah filled in whenever needed throughout the season, running legs on both relays, and competing in the long, triple and high jump events.

2001
Improved her school record in the pole vault to 12'07.25" en route to finishing 2nd at the conference championships.

2000
With a personal best 12'06.00" she was able to hit the NCAA Provisional mark...Placed 8th at the Big West Championships and 9th at the Cal/Nevada Championships...Vaulted her way to 2nd place at the Big West Challenge Cup.

High School
Attended Mayfair High School...Currently holds the CIF Division III record in the pole vault with a mark of 12'0"...Qualified for the CIF State Meet twice, finishing 8th as a senior...Also played volleyball and basketball in high school.

She was born October 17,1981 in Long Beach, California...A member of UCSB's distinguished women's volleyball team...Majoring in Communication...Daughter of David and Elsa Samson.
