Punctuated one of the most successful careers of any Gaucho with a terrific finish. Claimed All-American honors at the 2003 NCAA Championships in the 5,000m race, clocking a school record time of 16:22.17 -- this only 3 days after she ran a previous school record of 16:27 to advance from the prelims. At the conference championships she defended her conference 5,000 meter title, and took 3rd in the 1500m. Broke the 20 year old school record in the 1500m on her 23rd birthday.
2002 Cross Country
Led the team to the women's programs highest Big West finish since 1996 and took second individually.
Broke the school records in both the 5k and 10k with NCAA provisional marks...Took second in the conference 1500m event and first in the 5K.
2001 Cross Country
The team captain and MVP completed the most successful individual cross country season in UCSB history... Became the first Gaucho to win the Big West Conference race as well as qualify for the NCAA meet... Earned All-Western Region Honors with a 10th place finish at the district championship... Undefeated against Big West competition during her entire season.
One of the most improved athletes on the team earned all-conference honors by placing 2nd in the 1500m Big West Championships, as well as 2nd in the Cal/Nevada 5,000m. Logged personal bests in the 15000m and 5,000m, currently ranking 3rd and 4th respectively on UCSB's top-ten all time list.
Redshirt for both the track and field and cross country seasons due to injury.
She was the teams number 2 runner...Won the squads Most Improved award...Ran a PR of 18:04.1 on UCSB's Lagoon Course to win the opening dual meet against Cal Poly...Finished 23rd at the 1999 Big West Championships (18:55) and 57th at the NCAA Region 8 Championships (18:32)...Track PRs of 4:38.70 in the 1500 meter and 10:07.89 in the 3000 meter, with the latter coming at the Big West Championships to place her fifth in the event.
Came to UCSB highly recruited out of St. Ignatius High School...She had prep career highs of 4:38.70 in the 1500m and 10:40 in the 3200m.
Daughter of Lana Appenrodt...Has a sister and two brothers, one of whom also attends UCSB.
