Seattle, Wash.—The Gauchos took a mix of upperclassmen and newcomers up to Seattle, Washington for an indoor invitational.  The invite provided some great competition for the gauchos and was a first experience of collegiate track and field for the newcomers.

Senior Grace Esslinger, who normally competes in the 100m dash, javelin and heptathlon, competed in the 60m dash for the first time ever and ran a fast 7.67.   Senior Amanda Rodriguez had a high finish in the 400m placing sixth with a time of 57.03

Senior Irene Kujore, who is currently placed 32nd in the weight throw competition, had a solid meet.  On Friday, she had a 60'8 weight toss to finish in 5th place in a field of 48 competitors.  On Sunday, she came back with a toss of 61'3.5 to finish third out of another large field of 57 competitors.  Her best this season is 63'10.25 which she did at the Washington Invite on January 25-36, 2013.

Associate head coach Cody Flemming reflects on the meet.  "Our newcomers competed well and we are excited to get back on the track this weekend for the Gaucho Round-Up."

Up next for our Gauchos is the Gaucho Round-Up, which is held at Westmont College in Santa Barbara, Calif.  This meet kicks off the outdoor season for both the men and women.
