UCSB Assistant Coach to Compete at German Heptathlon Championship

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - Annett Fleming, a volunteer assistant coach with the UC Santa Barbara track & field program, will compete in the German Combined Event National Championships on Aug. 25-26 in Hannover, Germany.

Fleming, the wife of Gaucho assistant coach Cody Fleming, was a four-time All-American as a heptathlete at the University of Hawai'i, won the heptathlon at the Mt. Sac Relays in the spring with an all-time best score of 5,851.  In 2001, she won the IAAF World Youth Championship in the event.

A personal trainer at nearby Cathedral Oaks Athletic Club and Licensed Massage Therapist, Fleming won numerous honors during her time at Hawai'i.  In addition to All-American honors, she was a seven-time Western Athletic Conference champion in the multi-event meets, indoor and outdoor.  A native of Jena, Germany, she was also decorated academically, earning CoSIDA Academic All-American honors on three occasions.
