SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - UC Santa Barbara's women's tennis match against visiting Cal Poly, originally scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 26 at noon on the Robertson Gymnasium Courts, has been moved to Thursday, Mar. 3 at 1:30 p.m.
The coaches from the two schools decided that the forecast for Saturday was bleak enough to warrant the move.
"We've decided not to get into a card match with Mother Nature," said Pete Kirkwood, head coach of the 57th-ranked Gauchos. "Even if the rain tapers off, the forecast still calls for frigid temperatures and windy conditions, neither of which is good for tennis. With such a great rivalry between the schools, we felt the match deserved better conditions."
The 5-1 Gauchos will travel to 32nd-ranked Pepperdine on Sunday, Feb. 27 for a 1:00 p.m. match against the Waves.
