Battle by the Bay
The UC Santa Barbara women's tennis team will head up to Silicon Valley this Friday for a pair of matches against San Jose State and Santa Clara University. UC Santa Barbara will play San Jose State on Friday at 1:30 p.m. and then make the short trip to Santa Clara to battle the Broncos on Saturday at 10:00 a.m.

The Competition- San Jose State
The Spartans enter Friday's match-up with an overall record of 1-1 this season. After defeating Sonoma State 7-0 to open the season, San Jose State struggled in its next match at UC Davis, losing 7-0. The Spartans match scheduled for Tuesday, February 19th was cancelled against UC Santa Cruz due to inclement weather. The Spartans and Gauchos have met twelve times with UC Santa Barbara holding a perfect 12-0 mark all-time over San Jose State.

Santa Clara University
Santa Clara has faced staunch competition this season already playing matches against four ranked opponents. The Broncos are 1-6 this season, with the lone victory coming against UC Santa Cruz. The Gauchos posted a 6-1 victory over Santa Clara last year, and lead the all-time series 8-1.

Double your Pleasure
The Gauchos like competing in pairs so far this season having accumulated a 10-2 record in doubles play. UC Santa Barbara swept the doubles point in its first three matches before dropping two at UC Irvine. However, the No. 1 senior duo of Marta Simic and Charlotte Scatliffe continue to overwhelm the competition and are 4-0 at the No. 1 spot for the Gauchos this season.

Looking Ahead
After their pair of matches this Friday and Saturday in Northern California, UCSB will return home to host Eastern Michigan on Monday, February 25, 1:30 p.m. at the UCSB Tennis Stadium.
