UC Santa Barbara, Calif. - The UC Santa Barbara women's tennis team will head into final exams on a positive note as the Gauchos swept Cal State Fullerton 7-0 this afternoon at the Rob Gym tennis courts.
"Playing the day before finals start was a little scary, but we kept our focus and played with great energy," coach Pete Kirkwood said.
The Gauchos cruised in the doubles point and only dropped 1 set in singles. Natalia Lozano was a 6-0, 6-0 winner at #4 for the second time in three matches. Asagi Onaga was also a 6-0, 6-0 winner at No. 6. UCSB continued to roll as Michelle Murphy and Jill Damion picked up easy two set victories at the No. 1 and No. 2 slots, respectively. The UCSB women will take a week off for finals before returning to action for their alumni day event on Saturday. The following day, the Gauchos will return to action against Dartmouth University and will square off against Harvard on Monday.
The Gauchos now stand at 10-4 overall and 3-4 in the Big West Conference.
