UCSB Drops Narrow 4-3 Decision at San Francisco

SAN FRANCISCO - The University of San Francisco women's tennis team roared back from a 3-0 deficit to defeat UC Santa Barbara 4-3 Saturday afternoon at Golden Gate Park in San Francisco.

After winning the doubles point with victories at No. 1 and No. 2, the Gauchos jumped on top 3-0 with victories at No. 1 and No. 5. Marta Simic, playing No. 1 for the first time this season, swept Camille Pamart, 7-6, 6-2. At No. 5, Brittany Kausen blasted USF's Lauren Hickey, 6-0, 6-3.

But the Dons got wins at No. 2 by Mylene Martin, a 6-4, 7-5 winner over Carina Bjornstrom, at No. 3 by Sarah Oudomvilay, a 5-7, 6-3, 6-1 winner over Charlotte Scatliffe, at No. 4 where Joana Macedo topped Asagi Onaga, 6-2, 6-3, and at No. 6 where Nisha Dixit topped Bryanna Ojeda, 6-3, 6-3.

Both teams are now 3-4 on the season.

The Gauchos will now nake a couple of weeks off before returning to action at UC Riverside on Saturday, March 10 at 11:00 a.m.
