BERKELEY, Calif.- Following a gritty day one at the Cal Fall Invitational, UC Santa Barbara powered through competition on day two to boost five different Gauchos into the final rounds of play on Sunday.

Competing in the ITA Blue Doubles bracket, the pair of Goncharova-Volodko slipped past a stout Nevada squad in round one and bested the University of San Francisco duo of Emily Maxfield and Mya Bui in the quarterfinals with an 8-5 single set win.

Goncharova-Volodko dominated in the ITA Blue semifinals as the pairs team took out a Davis Aggies duo comprised of Isabella vonEbbe and Kelsie Bryant with an 8-4 triumph. The freshman-sophomore twosome moves into the Championship round of the ITA Blue Doubles bracket as they shift their focus to the No.1 seeded Cal pair of Julia Rosenqvist and Olivia Hauger.

Also initially featured in the ITA Blue Doubles bracket, the No. 4 doubles team of senior captain Stephanie Yamada and freshman standout Tiffany Lagarde were a late scratch in round one due to a mild injury.

That didn't stop the pair on day two as they eliminated a Santa Clara squad early in round one of the ITA Blue Doubles Consolation bracket. Advancing with a bye in the quarterfinals, Yamada-Lagarde overpowered the BYU pair of Kate Cusick and Madeline Almeida in the semifinals round with an 8-4 victory to move into the Final round of the Blue Doubles Consolation bracket.

Yamada-Lagarde will take on the Golden Bears pairs team of Alexis Nelson and Anna Bright. Both Santa Barbara doubles teams that made a deep run will each be competing against a pairs squad out of UC Berkeley in the Final round of their respective brackets.

The freshman of the year candidate No. 6 Tiffany Lagarde continues to impress as she also stretched her talents into the Semifinal round of the ITA Blue Singles Consolation bracket following a convincing two-set sweep with scores of 6-2, 6-3 against BYU's Samantha Smith.

Lagarde will take on Cal Poly's Kim Bhunu who made her way to the semifinals with a two-set win against Maria Gonzalez out of Sacramento State. The matchup takes place on Sunday at 10:00 a.m. as the winner will advance to the Final round of the ITA Blue Singles Consolation bracket.

As for the ITA Gold Doubles Consolation bracket, junior Amit Lev-Ari was paired up with Nevada's Adriana Gergelyova. The unique duo made up of veterans from both programs made a deep run in the Gold Doubles Consolation bracket with an 8-6 win over Cal Poly and a victory over the No. 2 pairs team of Jessica Walker and Nikita Pradeep out of UC Davis. Gergelyova-Lev-Ari will play against two of Adriana Gergelyova's Nevada teammates in the Final round at 9:00 a.m. on Sunday.

No. 2 Lev-Ari was knocked out of the ITA Gold Singles bracket in the quarterfinals on Saturday as she was dropped by Cal's Maria Smith with a narrow loss by a score of 7-6(6), 6-3 in two straight sets.

In the ITA Gold Doubles Quarterfinal round, pairs team of junior Dominika Paterova and sophomore Lise Sentenac were bested 8-3 by a Davis duo comprised of Sara Tsukamoto and Shirley Hall.

Paterova and teammate No. 5 Elizaveta Volodko both individually reached the Quarterfinal of the ITA Blue Singles bracket, but each were taken out by a seeded No. 2 and No. 3 Cal player.
