With the season winding down, UCSB will embark on its most important weekend of action this season. Sitting in sixth place in the conference standings, the Gauchos could jump to as high as the fourth seed with victories in each of the two contests this weekend.

After splitting last weekend's matches with a tough loss to No. 53 Long Beach State and a convincing 7-0 victory over UC Riverside, the Gauchos will aim towards capping off the season with a three match win streak.

Junior, Stacy Yam is continuing to provide a steady presence for the team as the San Jose, Calif. native is now on a three match win streak. Freshman, Jaimee Gilbertson continues to progress up the ladder as she saw action on courts No. 1 and 2 last weekend. Filling in for junior April Scatliffe on court No. 1, Gilbertson recorded a 7-6, 6-0 victory against UC Riverside.

Alongside the importance of this weekend's matches, seniors, Kiersten Meehan and Paola Cos will play their final home tennis match as members of the Gaucho family. A team leader and veteran, Meehan has provided a burst of positive energy and leadership for the young Gaucho team. Consistent all season, Cos has one of the best dual singles records among the team.

At conclusion of this weekend's matches, the Gauchos will begin to prep for its hopeful run at claiming the coveted Big West Championship. The conference tournament will be held during Apr. 24-27 in Indian Wells, Calif.
