Gauchos Fall to Long Beach in Big West Semifinals

INDIAN WELLS, Calif. - Less than 18 hours after needing nearly five and a half hours to beat Cal Poly in a Big West Championship quarterfinal match, fifth-seeded UCSB faced a rested No. 1 Long Beach State team and fell in the semifinal, 4-1.

Senior Jordan Dockendorf won her No. 5 singles match in a sweep of Klaudia Malenovska, 6-3, 6-3, but no other Gaucho was able to beat their 49er opponent.

Long Beach won the doubles point, winning at No. 1 and No. 2.

Only four of the six singles matches were completed.  At No. 1, Anais Dallara topped Sofia Novak.  At No. 2, Rachel Manasse defeated Natalia Lozano and at No. 3, it was Laura Bernard beating April Scatliffe.

UCSB completes its season with an overall record of 11-14.  Long Beach will play UC Irvine in Sunday's final.
