AUSTIN, Texas - UCSB men's and women's teams hold on to eighth place at the University of Texas Invitational for the second day in a row at the Lee and Joe Jamail Texas Swimming Center.
The highlight for the men's team was when Felton, Cary, Vogelgesang and Good took fifth place in the 800 free relay with a time of 6:43.94, a Senior National qualifying time. Both the men and the women took eighth in the 200 medley relay. For the women Lathers, Freeman, Yamamoto and May finished with a time of 1:43.67 and Matsumoto, McClary, Cary and Sullivan finished with 1:32.16 for the men.
Jen Schwalb tacked on another NCAA consideration time to her list this season in the 400 IM taking 10th with a time of 4:20.93. Chris Good swam his season best time in that event and took 15th with a time of 4:01.75. Teammates Brooks Felton took 19th with a time of 4:02.86 and McClary took 20th with a time of 4:03.64. Katie Freeman took 13th in the 100 breast with a 1:03.72, just a few tenths of a second off the UCSB school record held by Jen Cook set in 2005.
The Gauchos will be back in the water early tomorrow morning for prelims of the last day of competition at the University of Texas with finals to follow late in the evening.
