WEST LAFAYETTE, Ill. - Senior Anne Marie May finished her UCSB swimming career by finishing 37th in the nation in the 100 freestyle with a time of 49.71 at the NCAA Division I Women's Swimming and Diving Championships at Purdue's Boilermaker Aquatic Center.
May was seeded 26th overall in the event with her season-best time of 49.21 seconds, but touched a little slower on Saturday, the third and final day of competition.
During her illustrious collegiate career, May earned All-American honors in 2008 and 2009 and also competed nationally at the 2008 Olympic Trials.
May was named Big West Freshman of the Year in 2007 and Big West Female Swimmer of the Year in 2008 and 2010.
She currently holds the Big West Conference record in the 200 and 400 medley relays. She also holds Big West and UCSB individual records in the 50 and 100 freestyle.
The Carmel, Calif. native was the Big West Champion in the 50 free four consecutive seasons and was a three-time conference champion in the 100 free, but was unable to compete in the event at this year's championships due to an injury.
May also competed in the 50 free at the NCAA Championships. She took 20th on Thursday with a time of 22.52.
