SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – On the heels of an amazing run at the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Women's Swimming Championships, senior Andrea Ward is set to represent UC Santa Barbara at the NCAA Division I Swimming Championships this week in at the Minnesota Aquatic Center in Minneapolis.

Ward, the MPSF Swimmer of the Year, will compete in the 100 and 200-butterfly events at the championship meet. In fact, she is seeded 10th in the 100-fly. Her qualifying time of 51.76 in the 100-fly was recorded at the Texas Invite in December. She won the league title in a time of 52.2.

"Andrea is swimming so well right now," said UCSB head coach Gregg Wilson. "I think she is primed to make a real run in the 100 fly. I believe she is going to complete her college career in very strong fashion."

At the MPSF championships in February, Ward won four individual events and was part of three Gaucho relay championships. In addition, she set UCSB school records in the 500 and 200-yard freestyle events, and the 200 yard butterfly. She was also part of a foursome that set a new school standard in the 800 free relay.
