FRESNO, Calif - The UCSB women's swimming and diving team squared off against UC Davis on Saturday afternoon in Fresno with the Gauchos falling to the Aggies 180-120.

The relay team of Allie Knight, Carissa Metcalf, Andrea Ward and Katie Tomkinson started off the day with a second place finish in the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:46.47.

UCSB won the next two consecutive events to keep up its hot start. Heren Alanis took first in the 1000 freestyle in 10:23.85 while Sophia Yamauchi, posting her season-best time, came out on top in the 200 freestyle in 1:51.13.

A few events later, Ward dominated the 200 butterfly winning by more than three seconds with a time of 2:03.76. Her time would be her season-best in the event, marking the fourth Gaucho to record a season-best time in the meet.

After that victory, the Gauchos hit a dry spell and UC Davis came roaring back to take the lead.

Ward and Emma Hunt were able to finish one-two in the 100 butterfly. Ward's time of 56.18 is a Fresno State Aquatics Center pool record. Hunt came in second with a time of 57.65.

Yamauchi posted her second victory on the day immediately after in the 200 IM (2:05.07).

In diving, Quetzal Moreno scored the highest score for the Gauchos, and also her season-best, in the three-meter with a score of 232.55. On the one-meter board, Tripti Singhal marked her season-best score of 225.85 which was tops for UCSB on the day.
