Ward Tackles the 100 Fly, Yamauchi Takes-On the 100 Breaststroke at NCAA Championships
AUBURN, Ala. – One day after teammate Sophia Yamauchi made her NCAA Division I Swimming and Diving Championships debut, Andrea Ward tackled her first event. Ward competed in the 100 butterfly, while Yamauchi swam in the 100 breaststroke during Friday's preliminaries.
Ward finished 29th in the 100 fly with a time of 53.41 seconds. The mark was .43 seconds off of her school-record in the event and she finished just one place lower than her original seed into the event.
In the 100 breast, Yamauchi touched 35th overall with a time of 1:01.77, which was .68 seconds off of her career-best. She finished one spot higher than her seed into the event.
Both swimmers will wrap up their first NCAA Championship appearances on Saturday as Ward competes in the 200 fly and Yamauchi races in the 200 breast.
