SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - The UC Santa Barbara women's softball team will prepare for the 2009 regular season with eight exhibition games this fall. The Gauchos will scrimmage Cal State Dominguez Hills, San Jose State, Saint Mary's, Academy of Art, Cal State Monterey Bay and the Gaucho alumnae over the next two months.
The Gauchos, who finished the 2008 season with a 30-24 overall mark and a second-place finish in the Big West with a 13-8 conference showing, will open their fall schedule with a doubleheader at Cal State Dominguez Hills on Sunday, Oct. 19 at noon. The following weekend, UCSB will head to the Bay Area Showcase where it will face both San Jose State and Saint Mary's on Oct. 25 and the Academy of Art on Oct. 26.
UCSB will then come home for the weekend of Nov. 8-9. On Saturday, the Gauchos will host Cal State Monterey Bay in a doubleheader set to begin at noon. On Sunday, UCSB will take the field against Gaucho alumnae at noon. All three contests will be held at Campus Diamond with free admission.
The Gauchos' regular season is scheduled to begin on Feb. 6 at the Kajikawa Classic hosted by Arizona State. Currently, UCSB is slated to face Oregon, Wichita State, Mcnesse State, Wagner, Penn State and Arizona during the three-day event.

Oct. 19: at Cal State Dominguez Hills (Doubleheader), 12 p.m.
Oct. 25: vs. San Jose State (Bay Area Showcase), 9 a.m.
Oct. 15: vs. Saint Mary's (Bay Area Showcase), 2 p.m.
Oct. 26: vs. Academy of Art (Bay Area Showcase), 9 a.m.
Nov. 8: vs. Cal State Monterey Bay (Doubleheader), 12 p.m.
Nov. 9: vs. Gaucho Alumnae, 12 p.m.
