SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - Freshman pitcher Krista Cobb was named Big West Co-Pitcher of the Week it was announced by the conference on Monday. The honor marks the fourth of her young career and makes her the first Gaucho to earn a weekly conference honor four times in one season.
Cobb put up three solid outings last week, going 3-0 in those contests. She kicked off her week with a two-hit shutout of Fresno State, striking out five and walking one in the 1-0 complete game win.
She then went on to pick up two wins in UCSB's conference set against Cal State Northridge on Saturday. She came on in relief during game one and pitched 3.2 innings of three-hit shutout relief. She struck out five in the win. Cobb then started game two and picked up her second win of the day after allowing just three hits and striking out two in another complete game shutout victory.
For the season, Cobb owns a 14-5 record and an ERA of 1.83. So far in conference play, she has gone 4-2 with a 0.91 ERA. Cobb shares this week's award with Anna Cahn of Cal Poly.
