March 25, 2006

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - UC Santa Barbara's doubleheader with Loyola Marymount was called in the bottom of the third inning Saturday due to inclement weather. The matchup between the Gauchos and Lions has been rescheduled for Wednesday, April 5 beginning at 12:00 p.m. Sunday's Alumni Game is still scheduled for noon.

Home plate umpire Dan Duclos made the decision to halt the game in the third inning with UCSB on top 2-0 and, after a delay that lasted over an hour, the decision was made to reschedule the games.

The Gauchos scored both their runs in the bottom of the first on a single to left field by sophomore catcher Ericka Hansen that scored Jessica Hejna and Kendra Singley.

Jennifer Davis was pitching for Santa Barbara and held the Lions scoreless on one hit through three innings.

UCSB, who has already lost four games this season due to rain, will take on No. 1 UCLA in a doubleheader Tuesday, March 28 in Los Angeles.
