Four different Aggies had hits for UC Davis including Erin Emde who had a homerun, which was UCD's lone run of the game. Lindsay Tognetti (12-5) took the loss after giving up five runs on six hits in 3.1 innings of work. Lauren Peretti finished the game, pitching 2.1 innings and allowing four runs on eight hits.

The Gauchos opened up the second inning of game one by loading the bases off of a walk and two singles. An error by the Aggie catcher brought all three runners home to put UCSB up 3-0. The next six batters went down in order before Hansen led off at the bottom of the fourth with a single to left field. A sac bunt by Liz Walters advanced the runner to scoring position and a double from Churnock brought Hansen home. Ramos followed with a double of her own that brought Churnock home spreading the lead to 5-0.

UCSB scored two more runs apiece in the next two innings and only allowed Emde's homerun to close the game at the bottom of the sixth with the 9-1 mercy. This marked the fourth mercy win of the season for UCSB.

In game two, junior Tisha Duran and Wright accounted for the Gauchos' two hits and each also tallied a stolen base. Freshman MeLinda Matsumoto took the loss after tossing a complete game allowing two runs on 10 hits while walking one and striking out one. The hurler is now 9-4 on the season.

For the Aggies, Jessica Hancock threw a complete game two-hitter and struck out seven batters while walking one. At the plate, Deanna Menapace was 2-for-3 with a run and Emde was also 2-for-3. Ashley Johnson and Sarah O'Neill each went 1-for-3 with an RBI.

The score remained locked at 0-0 in game two until the top of the fourth inning when Johnson's sacrifice hit drove Nikki Sheldon home for the first run of the game. A single to left field by O'Neill on the next play drove Menapace home to put UCD up 2-0.

At the bottom of the same inning, with one out, Duran walked and was followed by Wright who singled up the middle. Each runner stole a base to advance on the base paths, but the next two batters struck out swinging leaving the runners stranded. The Aggies took the next nine UCSB batters down in order to close the game with the 2-0 shutout.

The rubber game of this weekend's series versus the Aggies will be played on Sunday at noon at the Gauchos' Campus Diamond.
