Julia Tamai rejoined the UCSB softball coaching staff in the fall of 2010. The 2002 UCSB graduate played for the Gauchos during the 2001 and 2002 seasons after transferring from Wright State.
The Oxnard, Calif. native had a standout senior season for the Gauchos, which culminated in 2002 All-Big West First Team honors. She led the squad with 58 hits, which rank as the ninth most in a single season in the UCSB annuls, and her 11 doubles that year rank 10th. Her .307 batting average led the team in 2002 and earned her a spot on the UCSB All-Decade Team.
