Kristen Clark Named Big West Player of the Week
SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – Freshman Kristen Clark was named the Big West Field Player of the Week after hitting .818 at the Louisville Slugger Invitational, it was announced by the conference on Monday.

Final Day of Louisville Slugger Invitational Cancelled
LONG BEACH, Calif. –Due to the persistent rain fall, UC Santa Barbara's game with Louisville has been cancelled at the Louisville Slugger Invitational. The tournament is officially over after several rain delays, as every game scheduled for Sunday has been called. The Gauchos finished 2-1 over the weekend and remain in first place in the Big West with their 11-5 record.

Gauchos Squeeze in One Game, Fall to Northwestern
After having a game cancelled yesterday and their originally scheduled first game of today postponed, UC Santa Barbara (11-5) struggled early against Northwestern (11-4), eventually falling 10-1 in 5 innings.

Oregon State Game Cancelled Due to Rain
LONG BEACH, Calif. –Heavy rains overnight have forced the cancellation of UC Santa Barbara's game with Oregon State at the Louisville Slugger Invitational. All three games scheduled to be played at the 49ers Softball Complex have been called today. Santa Barbara is still set to resume tournament play tomorrow with Louisville at 9 a.m. followed by a game against Northwestern at 11:30 a.m.

With a scoring frenzy in the top of the seventh, UC Santa Barbara (10-4) completed the 6-4, comeback victory over Nevada (10-6) to open the Louisville Slugger Invitational.

UCSB Set to Compete at Louisville Slugger Invitational
Last week, the Gauchos picked up three wins and fell only to nationally-ranked Florida State at the Unconquered Classic. UCSB’s weekend was highlighted by a 15-1 pummeling of Northern Iowa (UNI) in which it scored 10 runs in the top of the seventh. The Gauchos defeated UNI again the following day (3-2) and also opened the tournament with a 2-1 victory over Wichita State.The Seminoles were the only team to down UCSB in a 5-2 matchup that served as the last game of the weekend as all of Sunday’s games were called due to severe thunderstorms.

Florida A&M Game Cancelled Due to Severe Thunderstorms
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – This morning’s game scheduled between UC Santa Barbara and Florida A&M has been cancelled due to a thunderstorm. The Gauchos are currently on their way back from Florida after going 3-1 at the Unconquered Classic. At 9-4, Santa Barbara now sits atop the Big West standings with a .692 winning percentage. Next week, UCSB will stay in California and compete in the Louisville Slugger Invitational at Long Beach State.

Gauchos Split Second Day of Unconquered Classic
The Gauchos notched their third straight victory to open the Unconquered Classic as they defeated Northern Iowa 3-2 on a walk-off single by Kathryn Pilpil in the eighth inning. UC Santa Barbara (9-3) has now won eight of their last nine games.

Gauchos Head to Florida State for Unconquered Classic
In its first tournament away from Campus Diamond, UCSB came up with a 4-1 finish, including a pair of shutouts, at the the Fresno State Kick-Off. The Gauchos were led by Big West Pitcher of the Week Shelby Wisdom who finished the weekend with a 1.25 ERA. The Gauchos picked up two wins against CSU Bakersfield, including their 6-0 shutout of the team this season, and also downed Sacramento State and Southern Utah. UCSB’s lone loss came in the finale against Fresno State who won 6-5 in eight innings.

Gauchos Move to 4-0 in Fresno State Kick-Off
On the second day of the Fresno State Kick-Off, UC Santa Barbara (5-2) defeated CSU Bakersfield (2-8) by a score of 6-0. The victory makes it the Gauchos, third straight over the Roadrunners after they defeated them in the opener of the Fresno State Kick-Off and earlier in the season in the Gaucho Classic I.

FRESNO, Calif. –In their first game of the Fresno State Kick-Off Classic, UC Santa Barbara (3-2) defeated CSU Bakersfield (2-5) by a score of 5-3. The win was their second straight over the Roadrunners this season going back to last week’s matchup at the Gaucho Classic I.

Gauchos to Compete in Fresno State Kick-Off
For the first time since 2009, UCSB opened its season at home by hosting the Gaucho Classic I. The team finished 2-2 on the weekend, including a dominant 6-0 shutout over CSU Bakersfield. Shelby Wisdom finished tournament play with two homers (both in the opener against Dayton) and hit for .417 while slugging at a .533 clip. UCSB Falls Again to Aggies in Gaucho Classic
In the second day of the Gaucho Classic, UC Santa Barbara (1-2) fell in their rematch with Texas A&M (4-0) by a score of 8-0. The Aggies talented offense continued to produce at an extraordinary rate, averaging just over 10 runs per game for the young season. The game ended after 6 innings as a result of the mercy rule.

Gaucho Classic I to Feature No. 11 Texas A&M, Dayton, CSU Bakersfield
The Gauchos finished the 2013 season witha 31-24 record, which marks their second 30-plus win season in a row. The team finished fourth in the Big West standings behind Hawai’i (1), Long Beach State (2), and Cal State Fullerton (3). Five Gauchos were named to the all-conference team, as Jessica Soria and Shelby Wisdom made the second-team while Lauren Boser, Keilani Jennings, and Alex Pingree were honorable mentions. Jennings finished last season as UCSB’s all-time home runs leader with 31.
