LAKEWOOD, Calif. - UC Santa Barbara improved to 17-7 on the season as it wrapped-up play at the Mayfair Classic in Lakewood, Calif., with a 4-2 win over Weber State.
The Gauchos got on the board in the first inning when Jessica Soria singled and ultimately came in to score on a sacrifice fly by Arianna Palomares.
Weber State tied the game with a run in the bottom of the third, but UCSB reclaimed the advantage in the top of the fourth when the Soria-Palomares combo struck again. This time Soria's single was followed by a Palomares double to make it a 2-1 game.
The score stayed 2-1 until the top of the sixth when the Gauchos made it 3-1 on a squeeze bunt by Kathryn Pilpil that scored Soria...again.
