Rachael Ritchey anchored a women's soccer defense that led UCSB to a pair of Big West Conference shutouts this past week - a 2-0 blanking of Cal State Northridge and a 0-0 tie against Pacific. The sophomore from Sheldon, Calif. is part of a back line that has allowed only one goal in the Gauchos' past six matches. UCSB, which is unbeaten in its last five matches, has given up just 14 goals while scoring 23 times on opponents this season. Currently, the Gauchos are tied with Long Beach State for first place in the league and have secured a spot in the four-team Big West Tournament.
