SANTA BARBARA, Calif.- The UC Santa Barbara Gauchos defeated the University of Pacific Tigers by a score of 1-0 on Saturday.
The Gauchos controlled the flow of the first half as they held Pacific to zero shots on goal. The best chance for the Gauchos came on a header by Marissa Savoldi from the center of the penalty box that went to the far side post but was saved by a diving Lena Perry for Pacific.
The Gauchos struck first as Mallory Hromatko drove down the right side with a defender on her left shoulder but was able to sneak her shot far post past the Pacific keeper to put the Gauchos on the board 1-0 at the 25:44 mark.
UCSB's defense stayed strong after the goal and the Tigers were unable to gain any kind of solid possession.
The Gauchos will now take this two match win streak to Hawaii as they take on the University of Hawaii. Hawaii is 3-6-1 after their recent win over BYU. All three of their wins have come at home.
The match against Hawaii is on Oct. 1 at 10PM PST.
