SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - UC Santa Barbara senior Indiana Mead was selected to the Preseason All-Big West Conference Team by the league's coaches, it was announced Thursday.
Mead, who can play either forward or midfield, had two goals and two assists in her 15 appearances as a junior. She missed the final four games of the campaign with injuries.
"This honor is well-deserved," said UCSB head coach Paul Stumpf. "Indy is one of the better soccer players in the conference and other teams recognize that. She's made enough of an impact on them that they put her on the team. I am very hopeful that her senior year will be her best."
Mead, a native of Boulder City, Nev., has started 45 matches since her freshman season. She has tallied seven goals and four assists for 18 total points.
UCSB opens the season on Saturday, Aug. 16 when it hosts Westmont College in an exhibition match at Meredith Field at Harder Stadium. Kickoff is slated for 7:00 p.m. The Gauchos open the regular season at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 22, when they host Cleveland State at Harder Stadium.
Season tickets for women's soccer are available for the low price of $35 and they are available from the Ticket Office in the Intercollegiate Athletics Building on campus or by calling 805-893-UCSB (8272). Individual game tickets are available in person, over the phone or online by clicking here.
