Riverside Scores Early Goal, Holds on to Top UCSB, 1-0
On Friday night, UC Santa Barbara scored a season-high four goals in a win at Cal State Fullerton. On Sunday the Gauchos struggled to finish and UC Riverside scored a goal in just the third minute of play and then held on to win, 1-0.

Gauchos Hit Road for Final Three, Travel to Cal State Fullerton Friday
UCSB will enter its Friday game against Cal State Fullerton with an overall record of 4-10-2 and a Big West record of 1-4-1. The Gauchos coming off a weekend when they posted a win over Hawai'i and a loss to Cal State Northridge. The Gauchos have a record of 1-5 in road games. The Oct. 12 win over Hawai'i ended a two-game losing streak and a six-game winless streak.

Taylor Hobson scored her first career goal in the 84th minute to give visiting Cal State Northridge a 1-0 victory over UC Santa Barbara on Sunday afternoon. The game was the Gauchos’ final home contest of the season.

UCSB Plays Final Two Home Games This Weekend, Seniors Saluted Friday
The UCSB women’s soccer team will play its final two home matches of the 2012 season this weekend, hosting Hawai’i on Friday at 7:00 p.m. and Cal State Northridge on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. The game on Sunday will mark the final home appearance for a trio of Gaucho players: Erin Ortega, Dyanne Anderson and Lauren Kennedy. The three will be saluted prior to kick-off.

Big Second Half Leads UCI Past UCSB, 3-1
Freshman forward Angelisa Cortez rebounded after three weeks on the shelf with a sprained ankle to score a goal and give UC Santa Barbara a 1-0 lead, but the Gauchos couldn’t hold on to a 1-0 lead and dropped a 3-1 match at UC Irvine on Sunday afternoon in Irvine.

The UCSB women’s soccer team will travel south this weekend to play a pair of Big West Conference games. On Friday night, the Gauchos will play at Long Beach State, which until this week, was ranked in the nation’s top-25. On Sunday UCSB travels to the league’s defending champion, UC Irvine, for a 1:00 p.m. match.

The UC Santa Barbara women’s soccer team struggled to a 0-3 start in 2012. After five matches, the Gauchos were still winless at 0-3-1. On Sunday, in Sacramento, a neutral site, UCSB defeated Weber State 2-1, to win its third straight match and improve to 3-4-1. The Wildcats dropped to 2-7.

UCSB Hosts Successful AYSO Skills Day
For the third consecutive year, the UC Santa Barbara soccer programs teamed up with local American Youth Soccer Organization Region 122 for AYSO Skills Day. This year’s event, which was held at UCSB’s Storke Field on Saturday, Aug. 25, drew over 1,500 AYSO players, families and coaches.

The Veteran: Jennings is Golden
Carin (Jennings) Gabarra, a UCSB alumnus and current head coach of the U.S. Naval Academy’s women’s soccer team, has had a prolific career. She was an Olympian and was a forward for the U.S. national team for nine years, from 1987-1996.
